 Vincent & Rose Agbodo

I was born in South Togo West Africa in an ungodly family.  Most of the people in my family practiced Vodou (the paganism religion also practiced in Ghana , Benin , and Nigeria ).  I was 6 years old when my father died and my mother raised me.  My childhood was difficult.  God does not forget the orphans and widows.  The Gospel news came from the missionary, the late Pastor Machett, who told of the love that God has for us sinners by sending His Son to die on the Cross for us and for whoever will receive Him as their personal Savior.

I received this message of Christ's forgiveness with all of my heart convicting me of my real nature as a sinner.  This event happened when I was ten years old; I gave my life to the Lord on January, 1983.  Because of this, my family persecuted me.  I was summoned by my family and told to renounce my faith publicly.  Instead of renouncing my faith, I confirmed my choice to follow the Lord and that nothing in the world would be able to separate me from the Lord I had come to know.

The Lord touched the hearts of two of my cousins and my brother and they have also given their lives to Him.  We had become four members of the same family in our village that is following the Lord in true adoration.  We experienced physical and spiritual attacks, but our union and our determination for the Lord was strengthened.

On 02/10/1985 I was baptized at the same time as my cousins and brother by missionary Kater in the Biblical Baptist Church of Tokoin-Solidarity.  We were the first Baptist members and the total number of members was eight.  Responding to the commandment of Matthew 28:19 we proclaimed the Gospel and the Lord blessed our work.  From the eight members, the church experienced extraordinary growth in a few years to more than 100 members.  Seeing this expansion of the gospel we decided to bring the Gospel to our own village.  We fasted and prayed for the support of the Lord because our village was solidly fixed in the worship of Vodou.  Despite the mockeries and many attacks from Satan, the village (Agbalepedogan) began to receive the Message because they observed that nothing happened to us in spite of the spiritual attacks from Satan against us.

By the grace of God, we found a place to meet and worship and study the Bible.  In the space of some months the number of worshippers increased and other members of my family were converted to the Lord.  An increase in number caused us to ask the support of the missionaries in order to take care of the ministry.  When Missionary McMillen arrived, he was a great help to us, and built the church which now has 250 baptized members.

In June, 2001 I was called as pastor of a new church that had been started.  This church is located 35km from the first church.  To reply efficiently to the call of God I saw the need for more training in pastoral studies and Theology.

 My vision for ministry is:

-  The planting of Fundamental Baptist churches that will spread the Gospel and teach fundamental doctrine.

-  Ministry for teens.  Reaching young people that can spread the Gospel.

-  Orphans and widows ministry.

-  Missions programs.
