Chep Day Testimony
I
was born August 20, 1973, to Alvie and Patty Day, and was raised
in a small town in
Idaho
(Roberts). Although my father did not attend church, my mother was a
member of the Mormon church. I was invited by a neighbor to attend VBS
on my eighth birthday. I didn't want to go because it was my
birthday but my mother made me go. At the end of VBS, the preacher
preached on the feeding of the 5,000. After the story, the pastor
asked whoever wanted to be saved to go to the back of the room with
him. Several children went forward and myself. I was left
in the room with a lot of questions about salvation. The pastor
answered my questions and that very day I bowed my head and asked the
Lord in my heart. I was baptized when I was seventeen, then
later was baptized in Gethsemane
Baptist
Church. I kept going to church and learning, but this was difficult
because my mothers family was so heavy into the Mormon religion. I was
and still am treated as an out cast because I don't go to the
"right" church.
In
the church I got saved in is where I met my best friend Amy, who
became my wife and helpmeet on Jan 25, 1992. Amy is a godly wife
who stands behind me as I work in the ministry and encourages,
uplifts, and helps me whenever she can. Together we have two
wonderful boys, Chandler
who is 13 and Mason who is 11. They are wonderful
boys who continually bless our hearts and bring much joy and laughter
to our home. The boys stay busy being home schooled, with
music lessons, and running early morning paper routes.
During
my military service while stationed in
Germany
in 1994, I started attending an Independent
Baptist
Church. While attending this church under the preaching of Pastor Mike
Pinson, God laid on my heart to preach the gospel. In 1997 I left the
Army to follow my heart and surrendered to preach the Gospel. That
same year Pastor Tom Campbell started to train and mentor me in the
direction God was leading. After eight years under Pastor Campbell and
graduating from Salt Lake Baptist Collage. God gave me a burden
for starting churches in
Idaho
(Mormons).
In
November of 2004 I was asked to start a Bible study in Blackfoot,
Idaho,
by a family living there and by the end of January 2005 we started
holding Sunday services. In the last year we have we have grown
to eight families attending regularly and many Sunday visitors.
Our Wednesday night kids club averages 15 to 20 children a night and
we pick up many of these children for Sunday School also.
God
is doing wonderful things here in Blackfoot. People consider
this area Mormon country and have stated a church would not go well,
but God has proved them wrong by starting this little work. God has
brought many little blessing to our ministry among the Mormons.
Please
continue to pray that REVIVAL comes to this area as we continue to
minister in the city of Blackfoot
.
When I
was five years old my parents moved into the same neighborhood as my
Great Uncle Art. My uncle and his wife took me to church every
Sunday to
Gethsemane
Baptist
Church
and those few Sundays they were unable to take me they arranged the
church bus to pick me up. Although I don't remember much about
the few years I went there, I do remember my Sunday
School teacher telling the story of Amy Carmichael and I do remember
raising my hand for salvation. When I was nine my
family moved but God put another godly couple in my path that invited
me to church and took my every Sunday.
I met Chep as a
teenager in youth group. After high school, with God as the base
of our relationship, we married. Soon after marriage, Chep joined
the military and we moved to Missouri
where we totally got out of church and away from God. A couple
years later when we moved to Germany, God used a fellow solider to invite us to church where Chep and I
both rededicated our lives to Christ. I love God with all my
heart and am very blessed to have a husband who loves God and follows
and serves Him, and am honored to have been given a family to raise
for Him.
