doctrinal ARTICLES OF FAITH ● The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction (II Tim. 3:15-17) ● It has God for its author and salvation for its end (II Peter 1:16-21) ● It true is without any mixture of error or contradiction (John 17:17) ● It reveals the principles by which God will judge us (I Cor. 3:9-15 & Rev. 20:11-15) ● The Word of Almighty God is and shall remain until the end of the world the sole rule of Christian faith and practice (I Peter 4:11) ● It is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be based (Psalm 1:2-4 & Psalm 19:7-8). ● There is one true and living God who is the creator of heaven and earth (Gen.1: 1) ● God is inexpressibly glorious, good, loving in nature, and absolutely perfect in holiness (Isa.6: 1-3 & I John 4:8) ● That because of who He is, God is worthy of all honor, praise, and love (Rev. 4:10-11) ● That in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, and that they are totally equal in divine perfection and execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of redemption (I John 5:7 & John 10:27-30). ● Man was created in innocence, in the image of God, and under the law of his Maker (Gen. 1:26-27) ● Man, by his own free will and choice, did voluntarily sin, and in so doing, did fall from that holy and happy state (Gen.3: 6-27) ● That in consequence to man's sin, all men are now become sinners (Rom. 5:12-19) ● Man, by nature, is utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, is positively inclined to evil, and therefore is under just condemnation to eternal ruin in hell (Rom.3: 23, Rom. 7:14-18, & Rev.21: 6-8) ● God declares the sinfulness of mankind; therefore, man is without defense or excuse (Rom.1: 17-32). ● The salvation of sinners is wholly of God's grace (Eph.2: 8-9) ● Jesus Christ loved us so much that He died on Calvary's cross for the sins of mankind (John 3:16) ● Salvation is found only in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6 & Heb. 9:22) ●
Jesus Christ, having died, and being buried in the tomb for
three days, did arise bodily from the dead, ascend unto the Father, which
is in heaven, where He is now enthroned at the right hand of God (Col. 3:1
& Heb. 1:1-3) ● Repentance and faith are sacred duties, and also inseparable graces, wrought in our souls by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit of God (Acts 17:30) ● All men, convinced of their guilt, danger, and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, must turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession, and supplication for mercy. They must receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their Prophet, Priest, and King, and must rely on Him alone as the only and all-sufficient Savior (Rom. 10:9-13). ETERNAL SECURITY ● The visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel (I Cor. 1:1-13 & Matt. 18:15-17) ● The church is responsible before God to observe the ordinances of Christ (I Cor. 11:2) ● The work of the local church is governed by Scriptural laws (Matt. 28:18-20) ● The gifts, rights, and privileges, invested in the church by the Spirit of God, as set forth in the Word of God, are to be exercised therein (Eph. 4:7-8, I Cor.1: 7, I Cor.13: 1-7)
