Missionaries to San Jose del Monte City, Philippines
July,
2007
Dear
Pastors and Friends,
After a couple of very long flights Michelle and I have finally both
arrived in the Philippines. Thank you so very much to each of you who
have had a part in helping us to deal with this situation in the best
way, both through your prayers and financially. All we can do right now
is to say Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
My mom's condition has somewhat stabilized, in some sense. The
operation to relieve the swelling in the brain did not push through due
to her weak heart condition. As of now, her heart is recovering but
still too weak to endure the operation. The swelling as not gotten
worse, but it continues to leave her in a coma state. It has been two
weeks and 2 days now since her attack and she has not been awake at
all. At this time we are planning a meeting with us siblings and her
three doctors (pray we can get them all together at once!) to discuss in
detail what exactly is happening and what are options are at this
point. So many things that need to be prayed for.....
1. the time constraints...we are playing a waiting game with her waking
up and that is making it heart for us to make decisions. My brother is
in the Air Force and must return to the States soon. My sister has a
family and kids that are in school in the States. The obvious option is
for Michelle and I to be taking care of her since we live here. Please
pray for wisdom about what should be done, being on furlough complicates
things, especially because of the girls schooling and the difference in
schedules between the States and the Philippines.
2. Wisdom for the doctors and choices we make concerning her health
care
3. The two adopted siblings that are now 16 year old and also need to
be cared for.
4. My four daughters that are with my mother in law in the States while
Michelle is here to help for a couple of weeks.
5. Legalities and paperwork...in the Philippines such things, even
under the best of circumstances are troublesome, but now they are near
impossible, from insurance to power of attorney, it is a lot of work,
time consuming and frustrating.
We were able to be with our church Sunday morning before going to my
mother's place and I'm happy to report that things are well. We had 5
first time visitors and one get saved! I thank God for the faithful and
devoted people that God has given us there
Thank you once again to each and every one of you for your love, care
and concern for me and my family. We pray that the Lord will be honored
and glorified even through this crisis.
Love and Thanks,
Bro. Carl
P.S. I was able to witness already to the cardiologist just this
morning...pray for hospital personnel and family members to be saved.
