Dear Praying Friends,

Greetings from Haiti in the name of our most precious Lord Jesus.

The last 3 months of the year 2005 were very rough upon my wife and I. As stated in my last prayer letter, burglars stole our solar panels and poisoned our dogs. My wife’s health has been very unstable; her older brother had a mini-stroke and was half way paralyzed; her younger brother got sick for 17 days, died and was buried on December 30th. Above all, several people from the main church died, among them, one m! an was shot to death by unknown criminals. We have had our hands full. We thank God for being our help!

Haiti News
Finally, the presidential elections which had been postponed on several occasions, occurred on February  7. A new president is elected. However, it is too early to tell which direction Haiti will go for the next 5 years. There is a second election for congress before the elected president s! wears in for office. There will also be new elections for mayors and other offices. The people showed more interest to the presidential elections than to the remaining part due to lack of civic education.

Church News
Wrong is easier to do than right. It is not that hard to get people to make a profession of faith but when it comes to discipling them, that is the dilemma. Nowadays, the charismatic movement is sweeping t! he land and people fall for this kind of stuff due to their spiritual ignorance, it is very difficult to get people committed to serve the Lord. We do praise God for those who are willing to stay and be taught. We had a youth retreat for the Mardi Gras and 50 young people attended the retreat. They enjoyed the time, witnessed to the community and led a few people to Christ.

Praise
The church buildings; in Limonade which will be a 2 story building when it is finished, the first floor is in use though unfinished. It is used both for school and church services. The sad part is, that it is in use with a dirt floor. How dusty it is with a couple of hundred students! For a long time, we wanted to pour a macadam floor had no money to pay for cement. God has used a man who is willing to pay for 200 bags of cement for the macadam. We are making plans to work on the floor by the end of March. Praise the Lord for this open door!
