October - December 2005
Dear Friends in Christ, Greetings from the furlough trail, where recently we have visited churches in Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. Maranatha Baptist in Ripley, TN gave a special love offering for Tammy to have some much needed dental work. In Matthews, NC we were spoiled by the deai folk of the Bible Baptist Church. Mike stayed with veteran retired missionaries to Brazil, George and poris Norton, and so enjoyed their wisdom of years dedicated to the Amazon and Sao Paulo areas. The next few months before Christnias find Mike continuing to travel in Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia and' Arkansas. The goal is to have reported in to 50 supporting churches by Christmas. This will enable us to slow down a bit and get geared up for our return to- th~ field in early May 2006. We continue to monitor the news from Porto Alegre. We were encouraged by news of the recent 17th anniversary conference at the main work. Several of the pastors we have helped train were the special speakers. The seminary is in its second semester of the second year. The men from Santa Maria continue to study through the live video feed from Porto Alegre. There is one new student from there, Christian, who was recently saved . from a cult group. He is really impressing the pastor and his professors with his dedication. One student had to drop out due to the departure of his pastor. He has been called upon to fill in. Pray for Claudio da Rosa. He is the one we plan to help plant a church in Dois Irmaos when we go back. Two of our pastors continue to need prayer for their ministries that are struggling. They are Rubens and Delfmo. Satan would love to destroy their effectiveness. Our colleague at Guaiba, Jon Hutchins recently installed a King's Kids program that is being successful. Other churches want to implement the same program. The family is well. Tammy recently spoke at the Ladies Grand at our home church, Fellowship Baptist in Taylors, SC. She and the children are able to quite active as they are in the Greenville area. Nathan and Natalie' are adjusting to Bible College. Both desire to return to Brazil as the Lord leads. Noel is learning to handle the 10th grade and Nicholas is enjoying his 8th grade classes. He especially enjoys the "futebol" (soccer). Grandpa Ring said the one who was going to get the best education this year was going to be Nikayla's K-5 teacher! I am sure she gets an ear full every day from Mi,ss Nikayla Grace As we approach the holiday season, our hearts reflect on the great sacrifice of the Savior, who laid aside heaven's glories to stoop to earth and be born in the fashion of man. How we praise Him for being born to die on Calvary for oUr sins. May the Christ of Christmas fill your hearts with true joy that comes through knowing and serving Him. Feliz Natal (Merry . Christmas) from the Rings. We are grateful to labor together for the establishment of fundamental Baptist churches in Brazil.
