You may answer, yes I know, but the question is not where are you going now, in this life, but rather do you know where you are going after this life? The Bible says that everyone is going to one of two places, Heaven or Hell.
“There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried...
and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments
Luke 16:19 - 23
So, let me rephrase the question. Do you know where you are going after this life,
Heaven or Hell?
Here is how you can know that you are going to Heaven:
1. Admit that you are a sinner
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
That word all includes everyone, including you and me. We are all sinners.
2. Admit that you cannot save yourself.
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10)
3. Realize that you deserve Hell
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
Yes we do deserve hell, but God is giving all who accept him the free gift of Salvation.
4. Admit that Jesus died for your sins
“For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:17)
5. Confess your sin and invite Jesus into your heart
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
If you would like to know you are going to Heaven you may pray this prayer:
Dear God,
I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose again. Forgive me of my sin, and come into my heart and save me. Thank you for giving me the free gift of salvation.
