The Rings in Brazil

January—March 2010

Dear Friends in Christ,

Greetings from extremely hot Southern Brazil! We are enjoying the hot, humid days of Brazilian summertime, as you shovel snow and turn up the heat.  God’s blessings continue to be poured out on the church planting efforts in Porto Alegre. As we mentioned in our last prayer letter, we are seeing the Lord direct young couples to the church and to the altar in marriage. Noah Felderolf and Sabrina became husband and wife in a beautiful outdoor ceremony celebrated in the mountain town of Gramado. They will be a great blessing to the work as they begin their lives together.  Anderson and Thais are expecting a baby boy, John Victor, around the first of April. William and Vivian are trying to arrange things to be able to be the next couple married. Please pray for Rodrigo and Pricilla, who have not been coming of late. We believe the Lord is adding these young couples to assist pastoral candidate, Claudio and his family in the future church at Ponta Grossa. As we shared in our last letter, Andre and Brigitte have been called to serve in the Fundamental Baptist Church in Alvorada. Their two years with us greatly helped ot prepare them for the full time pastorate.

We have VBS scheduled for the second week of February, followed by Youth Camp the 15th-19th of February. Seminary classes resume February 22. Mike will be making a trip to Urugaiana, in the far west of our state with Daniel Lima. Daniel, along with Christian, is to graduate from our Fundamental Baptist Seminary on March 6th. We are excited to see a dedicated young man face the challenge of church planting in our state. This has been our goal: plant churches that disciple and train church planters to go out and continue the vision.

Our evangelistic outreach through Gauchos Para Christo (Gauchos for Christ) continues to see fruit. Already 330,000 tracts have been printed. Of the last 110,000 we only have 45,000 left. They will be given out at a Grape Festival in Caxias do Sul, at a Gaucho Horse procession up the coast (3,500 horsemen will ride nearly 200 kilometers) and at an International Rodeo in Santa Maria. Visitors continue to come to gouchosparachristo.com.br from literally all over the world. Mike has had special interest in those from Saudi Arabia.

It was our joy to have our Noel come home from Bible College for the Christmas holidays. She got stranded in Washington D.C. in the snow storm. But, praise the Lord for Tati Cordeiro, our colleague and her family, who graciously cared for her every need. Thank you for all your wonderful cards and gifts making our Christmas so special. We did not have our cantata, due to too many of our people traveling. But we had a wonderful, joyous praise service to bring in 2010. Sweet testimonies were shared of growth through difficulties and of God’s wonderful provision. WE saw this to be true in 2009, as Mike has issues with his ankle and with shingles, but experienced the sweet presence of the Lord as seldom before.

We are planning a furlough in May. We hope to see many of you during the course of the New Year. Thanks you all for your continued prayers and participation financially in the church planting ministry in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Serving the Savior,

The Mike Ring family
