The Rings in Brazil July—September 2010
Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings to you from the furlough trail! God has been so good to protect us during our many travels. We have visited churches in South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. God has blessed our meetings and it has been encouraging to renew old acquaintances and meet new friends. Nikayla has enjoyed getting to ride a horse named Trigger in Crayne, Kentucky, with Pastor Roger Waters and visiting Fort Donelson, Tennessee, with Brother Charlie Lair. A real blessing was in store for us at Sugar Grove Bible Baptist Church in Fordsville, Kentucky. God gave them an increase in their Faith Promise that afforded an increase in our support. We rejoice in the wonderful supporters and prayer warriors the Lord has raised up to help “hold the ropes” for the church planting ministry in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
From the field, we are encouraged by news from Pastor Claudio and the folk at Igreja Batista Fundamental in Porto Alegre. The believers are being faithful and using their gifts in the work of the ministry. Noah and Sabrina are great helpers and have just announced that they are expecting a baby in February. Plans are underway for a conference honoring the church’s anniversary. Pray for Reinold Federolf, who will be holding those meetings. Pastor Claudio’s motor went out on his car and we are trying to see what can be done to fix it. One member, Tonia, is in the hospital with serious depression. We believe it is due to the high powered drugs the doctors are giving her. Will you join us in remembering her in your prayers?
Praise the Lord, the stand for the International Fair in August has been rented. God again gloriously raised those funds from the Brazilian believers. Also, monies are being raised to print 200,000 tracts for this event. Please pray as our leaders motivate the “troops” for this most important time of getting the Gospel to the Gauchos. Although saddened (mostly depressed) by Brazil’s quick departure from the World Cup, we are reminded that in 2014 the World Cup is coming to Brazil. We are already beginning to make plans to avail ourselves of this unique opportunity to evangelize. Will you begin to make you plans now to come be a part of those efforts? Some are making plans to come before 2014. What about you? The Lord will be bringing the world to our doorstep. We want to be ready to sow the seed and hopefully gather precious souls from those hordes that will attend.
In family news, our son, Nathan, is on a mission trip to Southeast Asia. He is visiting fields such as Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore and the Philippines. Please pray for his safety and effective witness during this trip. He plans to marry Sarah Ingram on September 25th at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Taylors, SC. Natalie is working in Greenville, SC and seeking God’s will in a relationship with Joshua Perkins, a mission aviation major. Noel is at the Wilds Christian Camp in Rosman, NC for the summer. Nicholas is working and preparing to go into Bible college this fall. Mikayla is the only one traveling with Mom and Dad until her school starts in mid August.
Thank you for the important role in getting the Gospel to the Gauchos. We are encouraged to find our just how many are praying regularly for the Rings and the church planting ministry in Rio Grande do Sul. We are looking forward to greeting many of you throughout the coming months as we continue our furlough travels. Please know that we do so appreciate you and your faithful support of this ministry through your prayers and finances.
